Summit County is a high alpine environment with elevations that range from a low of 7,947 feet to a high of 14,270 feet. As a result, Summit County is home to four world-class ski areas, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Keystone. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Summit County features a wide range of outdoor activities, including biking, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, ice skating, kayaking, rafting, snowshoeing and so many others.  Getting around is easy via the Summit Stage, which offers free, year-round bus service throughout the county and serves about 1.75 million riders annually.

Wonderful educational opportunities abound here with six neighborhood elementary schools that feed into the Summit Middle School.  In turn, the Summit High School and Snowy Peaks High School provide finishing four-year curriculum programs. As a private alternative, the Peak School also serves middle and high school grades. In addition, Summit County is home to Colorado Mountain College, which maintains campuses in both Breckenridge and Dillon.

Located centrally in Frisco, St. Anthony Summit Medical Center affords the region's highest level of emergency care, and, augmenting its services, it also serves as the mountain base for Flight for Life Colorado.
