Fourth of July in Summit County
July 4 did not include fireworks this year, due to the drought & resulting fire bans (good news though – as of this post, it’s finally started raining a bit!). Despite the absence of traditional fireworks displays across many parts of Colorado, there were still plenty of things to do in Summit County.
The Town of Dillon scheduled a couple of concerts at the Dillon Amphitheatre, and the photo to the right is from early evening on July 4. The Dillon Amphitheatre is a terrific local venue, located right next to the Dillon Reservoir. It’s just a beautiful place to bring a blanket and listen to music. Plus, only Red Rocks comes to mind in rivaling the backdrop. Throughout the summer, the Town will be hosting a number of performances and events at this open-air pavilion. For instance, from June 21 to August 30, dance instructor Mike “Tex” DeGarie will be at the Amphitheatre every Thursday night at 6pm, teaching country dance. There are also Friday & Saturday night concerts throughout the rest of the summer:
- July 13 – Larry Keel & Natural Bridge
- July 14 – Boogie Machine (super 70s disco)
- July 20 – Dakota Blonde
- July 21 – Homeslice (funk to soul and everything in between)
- July 27 – USAF Falconaires
- July 28 – New Sensation(music of the 80s)
- August 3 – Dennis Stroughmatt & Creole Stomp
