Summit County Real Estate Market Improves in May 2012

Land Title Guarantee Company recently released its monthly analysis of the Summit County real estate market. And, the numbers for May 2012 look pretty good!

As part the analysis, they looked at the monthly percentage change in total dollar volume & total number of real estate transactions across Summit County. Comparing May 2012 to the month of May in recent years, real estate transactions in Summit County rebounded significantly last month. The totals are as follows:

  • May 2009 – $63,752,300 generated from 88 transactions
  • May 2010 – $63,039,000 generated from 94 transactions
  • May 2011 – $56,177,600 generated from 107 transactions
  • May 2012 – $68,527,900 generated from 134 transactions

In specifically comparing this year to last year, the total dollar volume of transactions in May 2012 ($68,527,900) was 22% higher than in May 2011 ($56,177,600). Additionally, the total number of transactions in May 2012 (134) was 25% higher than in May 2011 (107). These are some pretty sharp increases! Hopefully, they confirm that cautious optimism is warranted for the Summit County real estate market, as previously discussed in my Fall 2011 post.
