Walk to the 2013 Frisco BBQ Challenge
The 19th annual Frisco BBQ Challenge took place this past weekend. The Town of Frisco really does a terrific job running this event, and it’s no surprise that it’s become a Summit County favorite. The food is incredible. Lots of activities for the kids. Live music. And, maybe most importantly, a super-friendly neighborhood atmosphere.
A lot of folks may not realize it, but volunteers from around Summit County actually serve as staff for the event. In turn, the Town uses a portion of the proceeds from the BBQ Challenge to make significant donations that assist local nonprofits. As an example, I volunteered at a booth on Saturday selling hog-backs (Frisco’s BBQ currency), and a local nonprofit will eventually receive the resulting benefit. Volunteering was a great time. I had the opportunity to meet some new folks, and we had a ball working together too.
